Senior Wellness Exam

Senior Wellness Exams:

• Every 6 months for senior pets, depending on medical conditions or as directed by the doctors
• Vaccines given as needed
• Senior Medical Problems—will discuss medical conditions and treatment options
• Heartworm Test---includes screening for Lyme and other Tick Borne Diseases
• Lab Work---Blood Chemistry, Urinalysis-Inclusive of Thyroid Hormone Check
• Intestinal Parasite Test---Semi Annually
• eworming---When necessary
• Heartworm, Flea and Intestinal Parasite Preventatives---Interceptor year round for dogs and Frontline recommended year round for cats.

*****Statistically, Senior Dogs are prone to known medical conditions such as Hypothyroidism, Arthritis etc. For some specific species, additional conditions should be looked at for example, Cushings Disease Daschunds, Hyperlipidemia  in Schnauzers, CHF in Cavalier King Charles and Lymphoma in Large Breeds.

Application to cats as well includes Hyperthyroidism and Diabetes or specie specific diseases such as Polycystic Renal Disease in Persian Cats etc.

Many Senior Conditions may require follow up with Blood Work as often as every 3 months and or X-rays or Ultrasound every year
